Hallo May

It is May and the mayflowers shine brightly overhead as the hawthorn roofs the space I sit in.  Its baby leaves of yellow-lit green have found their fullness now, maturing in a month to maternal bearers of blossom.  The buttercups have joined the wash of wildflowers tangling in the grass, and the blue of the bluebells still lights dim corners.  The yellow palette is now brushed with white  read more »

Inner worlds

The apple blossom is out and gorgeous.  Each bud is dark pink when shut, pale pink when opening and almost white when wide open inside.  The grass underneath has petal confetti dropping onto it in the slight movement of air.  I am here without a coat, thinking of the adventures we will have today.  The petals still drop, and will do whether I watch or not, whether I notice or just sit here  read more »

The thing about spring

The thing about spring is it keeps you on your toes.  It shakes you awake each morning with a bracing chill unlike the languid heat of summer, or the cosy hearth-warmth of winter.  The sky is promising sun and blue and the air is quickening and moving and ready and the leaves are growing and the fern fronds are pushing and uncurling and the birds are all a twitter and the air is bracing.   read more »
