Spring will be good

Dear friends,

I am sneaking in another newsletter before the end of the month so that I can share a couple of winter pieces on my website  http://www.janeupchurch.co.uk/ before spring strikes.   A lot of good things have happened for me this winter but I have found the ongoing cold, grey days hard and am longing for spring.

SPRING WILL BE GOOD
Spring will be so good this year, breaking open the heavy pall of winter that weighs its grey cold on the landscape, on the soul.  It will call awake the greens from their hidden palette, and the daffodil flushes of gold that mimic and foreshadow the warm waters of sun.  It will shake and awaken the somnolence of roots, of buds, of earth that have been stilled by the chilled blanket of winter.  It will call awake the senses, shut up in scarves and hats and houses, and move us all from dormancy to vibrancy, thrilling with the new surge of life.

And a poem on the same theme.  I have started attended Herga poets in Harrow once a month.  We are given a theme to write on for the next meeting where we read our poems out to be critiqued by each other.  This month’s theme is feathers.

FEATHER BED
Give me a feather bed
to lounge the winter in
and a down duvet
to snuggle to my ear.

And lastly a book I love, ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ by Elizabeth Gilbert, written up under Books & Heroes.

I have had a good response to my book, thank you to those who have bought it.  I am looking forward to the book launch party on the 26th, and there will be other publicity events through the year.  I will send out another newsletter at the end of the month with my three Easter pieces, one for each of the three days of Easter.

Thanks for your support.

Love Jane
